DeepOcean Installation Activities
pull-in operations
Description
Flexible pipelines and service umbilicals connected to a gravity based or jacket type platform will typically have to be pulled in through a dedicated route called the J-tube (or an I-tube on a FPSO). A wire will be deployed through the applicable J-tube and attached to the pipeline or umbilical.
The pipeline or umbilical may also be installed into a hang-off structure on a floating platform or FPSO side. This may also be considered a pull-in activity.
Scope of Work
The pull-in route and J-tube bellmouth will be surveyed prior to and monitored during the pull-in. A work class ROV will remove the initiation rigging as required and attach the pull-in wire to the termination or pull-in head. The head may be lifted with e.g. a heave compensated vessel crane if required during the pull-in until hanging midwater, free above the seabed. The layback will be monitored. Seabed cleanup of concrete mattresses, etc., will be performed as required.
DeepOcean may supply topside winch / equipment and operating personnel, if requested by the customer.
A direct pull-in of a flexible or umbilical stored on a carousel or reel on one of our vessels may also be possible. A light weight messenger wire will then typically be run through the J-tube and brought on deck on the vessel and the pull-in wire will be hauled on deck over a chute before being attached to the line.
