PIPELINE REPAIR SYSTEM
Description
The Pipeline Repair System (PRS) is owned and developed by the PRS license pool which is operated by Statoil. The purpose is to have emergency equipment prepared to allow a fast repair of pipelines owned by the members of the PRS pool. The equipment is centrally positioned at Killingøy, Haugesund, Norway, to minimize possible response time for infield and export pipelines in the north of Norway, in the west towards UK, and the large export gas lines to the European continent.
The system consists of diver operated hyperbaric welding and also diverless equipment to cover a wide range of pipeline sizes from 3” to newly developed 48”. This covers both repairs and planned tie-ins.
Typical equipment in the PRS pool is:
- Pipeline H-frames
- Diverless concrete removal machine
- Weld seam removal tool
- Abrasive cutting tooling
- Pipeline retrieval tools
- Isolation plugs
- Various mechanical pipeline couplings and repair clamps
- Welding sleeve jacking unit
- Remote operated orbital welding tool down to 2000 msw
- Hyperbaric diving welding habitat
- Hot Tap pipeline installation frame, cutting module / valve module
