CTC Marine Projects Installation
Installation
CTC Marine Projects has the capability and expertise to design and procure subsea protection structures, as well as provide installation engineering and offshore construction of flexible products and submarine cables. Equipped with the world’s largest fleet of trenching and burial equipment and 16 years of experience, CTC is one of the strongest and safest cable burial specialists in the world.
It operates a range of flexible installation and cable-lay spreads including under deck storage tanks, deck reels, cable baskets, cable engines and tensioners, supporting 7,000te capacity. It also has an upgradeable 2,000te capacity flexible installation carousel which has a maximum lay speed of 1,200 metres per hour for the deployment of flexible pipelines, umbilicals and power cables. Its modular design, which includes a deck mounting system, enables rapid mobilisation and demobilisation on a vessel of opportunity without the need for welding the carousel structure to the deck.

Submarine Cables
CTC plays an active role in the global supply chain of Offshore Renewables including wind and wave power. It provides array cable and export cable installation and burial solutions in the most challenging environments. Uniquely, CTC can offer a complete set of in-house services from design, route planning and surveying through to cable laying, trenching and termination. Its innovative techniques and the versatility of its assets have ensured that CTC can deliver “right first time” solutions suited to individual client needs.
CTC has extensive experience worldwide in flexible and power cable lay and can provide the project management and engineering support for such subsea installations. CTC has carried out the burial of several HVDC cables, including the installation of a 29km 69KV 209mm OD power cable, the largest installed by CTC and the largest subsea power cable to be installed in the Persian Gulf, as well as the installation of two 105 kilometre HVDC cable bundles between Jeju Island and Jindo Mainland Korea to connect the island to the mainland, and provide it with telephone and internet connections.
CTC has the necessary skills and equipment to provide the installation of flexible pipelines and umbilicals. Products include flowlines, infield lines, control lines, chemical injection lines, production lines, injection lines (gas, water, and nitrogen), and service lines of varying configurations.
With a proven track record in the installation of Fibre Optic Cables (FOC), CTC is well placed to provide the successful installation engineering and offshore construction of these.
Bringing years of experience and knowledge from oil and gas and submarine cable installations has allowed CTC to become a leader in the burial and maintenance of seismic array cables including LoFS systems. CTC’s skilled engineering team has the capability to provide engineered solutions, detailed methodology and bespoke equipment to facilitate the successful installation of seismic array cables. These cables are then able to extend the life of a field by monitoring the long-term performance and development of subsea producing reservoirs. The seismic system uses advanced technology to provide continuous and real-time monitoring allowing our clients to forecast and manage oil reserves in their established field.
Diverless Subsea Construction
When it comes to subsea construction work scopes, CTC Marine Projects has the capability and expertise to provide the design, procurement, installation engineering, offshore construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning of subsea protection structures using a dedicated vessel, heave compensated crane and WROV to provide visual feedback and installation support. The scope of work may comprise of:
- Acoustic metrology
- Diverless spool installation
- Jumpers and flying leads
- Protective mattress installation
- Subsea Umbilical Termination Unit (SUTU) installation
- Tie-in operations and J-tube pull In
- Hydro-testing and pre-commissioning
Subsea Decommissioning
TC's core focus in the specialism of subsea decommissioning is the decommissioning of pipelines by trenching. This involves lowering the pipeline into the seabed using our range of trenching equipment. CTC undertook its first decommissioning project back in 2007 using a plough to decommission a concrete weight pipeline in the North Sea.
Since then, CTC has expanded its offering to include decommissioning of other structures including:
- Flexible pipelines and umbilicals
- Subsea protection structures include Buoy recovery
- Mooring chains
- Risers
Mooring System Installation
CTC Marine Proejcts offers full project management and engineering for all aspects of a mooring system installation. CTC has a proven track record in this type of installation and its scope of work can include:
- Transportation of chains
- Management of Pile and Hammer suppliers.
- Design and installation of seafastening.
- Design and fabrication of all project specific installation aids.
- Offloading and wet storage of piles.
- Connecting the chains to the piles.
- Installation of the piles into the seabed.
- Laying the chains onto the seabed with Touchdown monitoring conducted by our ROV.
- Pre-tensioning of the mooring chains.
Riser Installation
Having gained experience in the field of riser installations, CTC can offer a selection of work scopes including:
- Removal of the existing riser.
- Installation of a new Mid Water Arch.
- Installation of a riser and/ or riser base.
- Subsea tie in of risers.
