Cutting by use of ROV is a safe and cost effective solution for recovery of subsea objects. Typical items may be anchor chains, steel risers and piles, umbilicals, and support structures.

Scope of Work

Due to a magnitude of different objects, locations and operability, a number of diverless subsea cutting options may be chosen from:

• ROV grinder
• ROV wire cutters
• Circular and guillotine saws
• Diamond wire saw
• Hydraulic shearer
• External and internal high pressure grit cutting devices

These tools require mechanical and/or hydraulic interfacing with an ROV. They may be deployed on the ROV or picked up separately on the seafloor.

HSE considerations: Oil and chemical spill control must be taken care of when cutting on old pipelines and umbilicals, etc.
